21/06/2006 Koz Aerial Baiting Unecessary

<< Back >>

Fears about the effect of aerial baiting on Dingo populations sounded by the Colong Foundation on the ABC may be well founded but the whole concept is unnecessary.

As many as 1000 people, many of whom are already trained in wild dog bating by National Parks and Wildlife Service, have offered their services to dig wild dog baits in Kosciuszko National Park.

Digging the baits underground affects Dingos far less than surface baiting.

However NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services has rejected the offer of volunteers on some unspecified "industrial relations" grounds.
